Throwing Snow

It’s always a treat when you get some Alex Nut approved music. His Eglo label needs little introduction with artists like Floating Points, Shuanise, Fatima, Funkineven and Arp 101 on the roster. His new label Ho_Tep is no exception to that high standard we’ve got used to. The first release has introduced Throwing Snow to us. A UK based producer, label boss and many other things.

His sound has strong influences from the current forward thinking UK dance music scene (Dubstep / UK Funky rhythms) and the more ethereal Techno (sound(scape)s). Maybe not all that original on first sight but the quality of it all makes it stand out easily. In times when gimmicks rule over musicality Throwing Snow’s music is truly refreshing.

And as we always do when discovering something we like, we’ve dug a little deeper finding out that there’s a lot more to enjoy. A nicely looking website that points you to his label, his many accounts on social networks and, importantly, lots of music. Some of that even for grabs. For once no free mediocrity but really good tracks. Go check that out.
